Hello one and all – so much has happend in the last few days. For those of you who have been following my blogs you will know I’ve been busy doing Easter Bonnet shows and today I was out doing Music Hall with an Easter twist in Aylesbury for The Ex Services Mens Club. Tomorrow I have two shows back to back in High Wycombe and then I’m in Watford on Thursday so it’s all go.
The phone has been red hot tonight and I’m pleased to anounce I’m returning to France this May on the 18th and 19th. Sometimes these things can take a really long time to sort out as you have to talk to the British side and then the French and in this case the Americans too to co-ordinate everything together. What’s quite exciting is I’m doing the American side this time and playing at Utah Beach so I’m looking forward to that very much. I’m going out on my own too something I’ve never done before as I’ve always had a driver and sound engineer. I’ve got to remember to drive on the right – fingers crossed I don’t make a mess of it. Maybe now is a good time to put out the public health warning and say Stay off the roads in Northan France in May as Fiona is comming through in Connie the Van! Please please please make me remember its the right and not the left I can get very confussed being dyslexic and all!
Somethings are ment to be and maybe I had some divine help in getting this job. On Monday I was performing in Downley and on my way back I called into the church of St Peter and Paul in Ellesborough as they were open for tea and cakes with it being Easter Monday. I have quite a thing for Churches and Ellesborough church is really pritty. The sun was streaming through the stain glass windows and I had a lovely chat with all the volanteers. One chap reconised me from hearing me sing at Aces High art gallery in Wendover and I said I was keeping my fingers crossed for France. They said they would all pray for me and boy did it work. By the time I got home the message was on the answer phone to call back and sure enough I was able to tie up France today. Thank-you everyone – your prayers did the trick and what a magic moment it was too being in the church at that time Thank-you!
I’ve just had an e-mail through from Oxjam to say the money we raised from the concert on the 13th March was £261.88. You may remember I sang with the South Beds Concert Band and thank-you to every-one who came to see the concert. It was wonderful singing with 40 musos and I hope very much to do so again. Oh that reminds me Bill the bands musical arranger has just done “If I Loved You” for me for concert band so I’m looking forward to trying it out. I also hope to do my Gershwin medley with them too but we will just have to see what the future holds.
Many thanks for all your feed back on my 1940s knitwear artical in the Best of British magazine – I’m so pleased so many of you have enjoyed reading it. For those of you who read about Pintrest in my artical and don’t know what it is it is a social media site for people who like to post up photos. My boards are easy to find. Just go onto my web-site at www.fionaharrison.biz and click onto the follow Fiona tab on the right of the screen. There you can see all the different icons for Facebook, Twitter You Tube ect, just click on the P and that will take you through to my boards – do take a look if you can!
Well must dash as I have lots of e-mails and contracts to do. Thanks for following and Toodle Pip for now!

I’ve just been sent some photos from when I went on Allan Pagram’s radio show at the start of the year – so thank-you Allan it was very kind of you to send them to me and I’ve already posted quite a few on facebook!
Quite a bit has happened since I last blogged and although I’m well into the swing of Easter Bonnet shows I’m all set for the start of the 40s season which will begin very soon. I still have another week of Easter Shows to do which I always enjoy doing very much. I’ve had quite a few Easter Bonnet compertitions to judge this week and today I judged the best Easter Cake followed by a cup of tea and a Easter crispy cake nest cake which belive me I was ready for. I think by the end I must have looked something of a fright as a crispy cake is very difficult to eat with-out getting a little chocolate on your mouth and hands – but hay it’s Easter, chocolate and off ration and boy did I enjoy it – Yum Yum!
This morning I had a few jobs in town and I decided to treat myself to lunch at All Saints Church. All the ladies were busy aranging the flowers for tomorrow and just at that moment the sun started to shine through the stain glass windows. The church looked particuly pritty today and the angles wings were really shining a rather special moment I thought. However no sooner did I step outside the chuch and the sun went in and it started to snow how tippical is that!
While I was in town I was able to pick up my copy of the “Best of British” magazine as the April issue is the one to have if you want to know what is hapening on the 1940s sceen. I’m really pleased they have featured my artical on 1940s Knitwear. I wasn’t sure if it was good enough so I was really thrilled to be included. There are some great articals in this month and this September I will be performing at Chatham Historic Dockyard for “Salute to the 40s”. It’s going to be quite an event as they are going all out on entertainment this year and a little less on Millatary. I know judging by some of the e-mails flying about a few of you are a bit disapointed but please don’t be because this year it’s all about the acts. It’s the only event which has ever been able to get Madeline Brown, Lola Lamour and myself together all at once so quite a line up – no other venue has been able to pull that off. The Polka Dot Girls are back who I think are just great and Putting on the Blitz too. I’m looking forward to working with the Cinque Port Lindy Hoppers again and meeting Natasha Harper and Victoria Yellop who I’ve not yet had the pleasure so quite a line up!
If you don’t yet have your BOB make sure you pop down to WH Smiths and pick up a copy. You can find my 1940s Knitwear artical on page 40 and do check out my add on page 45.
Time is creeping on and I must get to bed as I have two shows to do tomorrow. Thanks for following Toodle Pip and Bye for now!

I’m afraid I don’t have a great deal to blog about today other than to say I’ve been out and about doing Easter Bonnet shows again! Tomorrow I’m off bright and early as I have two back to back which will have me playing in Chalfont St Peter and Princess Risbough so early to bed tonight! I’m also in Aylesbury on Saturday and up to Nuneaton on Easter Sunday and then back down to Dowley near High Wycombe on Easter Monday so you could say it’s all go!
Despite being on the road a fair bit these last few weeks I have been able to tie up lots of lose ends. I renewed my passport, taxed both my van and car and got all my electrics PATS tested. It’s amazing just how quickly that year has flown by but it is so important to keep up to date and it’s these little things which marks the difference between an ameter and a professional. I like to know that if I get a call from out of the blue to go aboard I can go at the drop of a hat and all my equitment is in good order and up to scratch! I’ve also found a local sound engineer to help me when I play at Bushey on the 13th and 14th April so I hope you can all make it along. The 40s Family Experience at The Lincolnsfield Centre, Bushey nere Watford always opens the 40s season and I’m looking forward to playing there very much.
In the mean time all that’s left for me to do is to wish you all a Very Happy Easter and thank you for following my news. I have lots of plans for the future which I look forward to sharing with you all soon.
Toodle Pip and bye for now!

I’m trying very hard to get all excited about Easter this week but with the weather being the way it is I’m failing somewhat! I have Easter Bonnet shows every day for the next two weeks and then a mix bag with the run up to the start of the 1940s season in Bushey. But this weather honestly – it’s far too cold for the time of year and I just hate it! I can’t remember the last time I saw sunshine and even Tigger is choosing to put himself to bed in his basket rather than be his normal bouncy pussy self. I’m not looking forward to loosing the hour on Sunday as I’m performing in Nuneaton so no lay in for me but fingers crossed things will warm up soon!
Dispite the cold I have been busy and I’ve already sold over 200 dates for this year. My work has changed somewhat in that I seem to be doing more and more private events as the 40s sceen has changed grately. The trend seems to be for qantaty and not quality with many events opting for an open mike aprouch. On the face of it it might seem a clever move but talking to re-eancters and members of the public so many events have lost their direction. The point of the entertainment is to earn the venue money. It’s better to invest in one or two good acts which engage an audience and keep the public on site spending money than to have an endless stream of “wonabes” who just turn the public off – but then what do I know!
In the mean time don’t forget you can see me on the 13th and 14th April at The Forties Family Experience Weekend, The Lincolnsfield Childrens Centre, Bushey Hall Drive, Bushey, Herts, WDZ3 2E5. I shall be performing 3 x 45 minute costume shows daily plus at the Saturday night dance. I have some great shows planed so do come along as there will be much to see and do. Lets just hope the weather gets better. Thanks for following and I hope you can catch me in April.
