NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

Armed Forces Day Ticket Launch!

Today I’ve been singing at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury for the launch of Armed Forces Day. It was one of those funny time shows where I had to start at 1pm but needed to be there at 12pm seting up. So it ment I had to have my lunch at 10.30am this morning so I could fit everything in and get to the theatre on time. That’s the thing about being a diabetic you can’t miss meals. It’s so anoying somethimes as eating can really get in the way when you are busy!
I got to the theatre in plenty of time and I was shown to Stage two and set everything up – only at five to one to be told they wanted me out-side in the foyae and not on the stage until later. So everything had to be struck down and re-set. Forchantly I had Jude the theaters Technition on hand to give me a hand and some very strong cadets who carried everything through. Phew that was a close one –  Dispite the location mix up I was still able to start on time as many hands make light work! I sang light background music during the Canape’ Reception and then 15mins of 1940s sing along favourits in the theatre.
I’m not sure if Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire and Lieutenant Colonel Simon Wilkinson were quite ready for me. However when it comes to a Fiona Harrison show I’m very serouse about flag waving as nobody gets away with it and it was lovely to see all the VIPs singing away! They weren’t exspecting me or that – such fun!
It’s amazing who you meet at these things as the introduction was given by Chris Williams the Clerk to the Buckinghamshire Lieutenancy. Unbelivably he reconised me from seeing me on Friday at The Richard Alston Ballet. He was sitting right behind Linda and I – small world isn’t it! I hope he couldn’t hear what we were saying as I think we did spend quite a bit of time admiring one gentleman dancers butocks and talking about knickers! Ops! Please tell me I haven’t put my foot in it again!
Don’t forget you can see me this weekend at The Forties Family Experience at The Lincolnssfields Children’s Centre, Bushey check out the link www.fortiesexperience.co.uk  www.lincolnsfields.co.uk

All Systems Go!

It’s been a very busy few weeks one way and another and this weekend has been just as busy if not more so. In fact if I’m honest I’m feeling a little pooped today and in desprate need of an early night – but then I love to work and I have been enjoying myself rather!
As you know I was at the Ballet on Friday night with my friend Linda watching the Richard Alston Dance Company. I don’t know if it is because I have been a dancer but when I watch them I have this wonderful sence of being up lifted. It’s like my body is dancing with them too and I can feel my muscels working and heart pounding it’s all very exciting. But then that is how dance should be and what a wonderful program they danced too. We saw “The Devil in the Detail” which was danced to Rag Time Music. “Shimmer” where the company wore the most beautiful cobweb inspired costumes and Roughcut. When I left the theatre I had this urge to get up and dance and infact I did abit in the car park much to Linda’s amusement! Oh gosh I’ve just remembered I shall be back at The Waterside Theatre this Wednesday singing for the lanch of Armed Forces Day so I had better get everything sorted! I don’t know so much to do and not enough time to do it all in!
Sunday I was at Swingrave’s Vintage Market and Tea Dance and what a great day that was too. Sandy had done a wonderful job on advertising and it was packed. I booked an apointment with my hair dresser Angela as she had a stall and I knew that if everyone saw me having my hair done it would encourage everyone eles to have theirs done too and sure enough it worked! Angela was busy for the rest of the day! While I was there I met a photographer and I hope to have some photos to show you all. As yet they haven’t come through by e-mail but do watch this space and I shall post them up as and when. In the mean time Christine Chambers of Crystal House Wellbeing Centre has very kindly posted up a shot on my facebook page so do take a look if you can.
By the evening the stalls cleared away and I was ready for a good dance. After 2 weeks of non stop singing and being somewhat inspired by the Richard Alston Dance Company I decided to go for it as my body was crying out for a good workout so I gave it one! Gosh I feel much better for that! They had a great D-J on hand and I really enjoyed listening to Sopie Garner – what a wonderful voice and I hope very much to see her again on the circuit sometime soon. Wonderful performance Sopie you were great! I myself will be taking part in a Swingrave event on the 7th July when I’m booked to run a Singing workshop but more of that nerer the time!
This week I’m as busy as ever – I did my last Easter Bonnet show today and tomorrow I’m doing Magic of the Musicals in Sandy and then I’m in Aylesbury at the Theater with the launch. Don’t forget you can see me this weekend at the Forties Family Experience at the Lincolnsfield Childrens Centre, Bushy Hall Drive, Bushey, Herts. I’m performing 3 x 45 min shows daily and I shall tell you more about that when I next blog. So do Keep Watching www.fortiesexperience.co.uk  www.lincolnsfields.co.uk

A Busy Forth Coming Weekend!

I’m dashing some what to get my blog done tonight as I have a very busy weekend planed one way and another. Tonight I have been with musical arranger Bill Pollard and we have been talking about musical arrangements and how to balance the voice with different instraments. I’ve just leant a new word “Chalumeau” originaly a generic term given to a rustic reed instrament used in the 18th century but now meaning the lower register of the clarinet. He has just arranged for me my arrangement of “If I loved You” and those lower sounds will balance beautifuly with my voice so I can’t wait to try it out with the Concert Band!
Today I have been performing Easter Bonnet shows in Watford despite the snow and tomorrow I’m out all day with a show in Denham and then I’m off to see the Ballet in the evening. I’ve been invited by my friend Linda Page who is ex Royal Ballet. We are going to see the Richard Alston Dance Company at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury and Linda has been able to get front dress circal seats so I’m looking forward to it very much. They are performing “The Devil in the Detail” which is inspired by Rag Time music – Scott Joplin and all that so it should be a really joyous and uplifting show – so can’t wait!
Saturday I’m performing in Ealing and then on Sunday I’m going to the Vintage Market and Swing Tea Dance at Wingrave Community Centre. Wingrave. Bucks HP22 4PE. I’m looking forward to getting my dancing shoes on again as these last few weeks I’ve been singing non stop and well I’m just longing to dance as I haven’t done so in such a long time. The event is being run by Sandy of Swingrave for Brest of British and do check out her web-site to find out more at www.swingrave.com There is much going on and I’ve already booked to have my hair done as Angela my hair dresser is having a stall. I’m looking forward to hearing Sophie Garner as she is singing in the evening. The last time I met Sophie was at Hammersmith Vintage fashion fair and I’ve never heard her sing so I’m looking forward to seeing her very much.
I myself have been booked by Swingrave on the  7th July to run a Singing Workshop. I’ve never done anything like that before but I’ve got an idea how I can make it work – getting every-one involed what ever their abilaty! So Watch This Space!
Times creeping on and I still have loads of paper work to do including the contract for France. Thank-you Brian for your e-mail about driving in France. You are right about Connet vans having a blind side. I got the paper work through today about the ferry and they did want me to sail back from Caen. I don’t think I can cope with that drive with it being my first time driving on the right and all. So I’m hopping to change to Cherbourg the same as I arrive. Fingers crossed!
Thanks for following and with it being a busy weekend I probably wont blog again until Monday. Keep Watching Toodle Pip and Bye for Now!
