NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

Back from Edgeware!

Hello everyone sorry I’ve not blogged for the last couple of days but I’ve been really busy putting together my designs for my new web-site up-dates and pages. I’ve also been on the road doing shows and today I was doing my 1920s and 30s “Putting on the Ritz” show in Edgeware. Out of all the shows I do my 20s and 30s one is my favourite and today I was able to meet up with my friend Maud which was just wonderful. She is so clever and intelagent and has that abilaty to sus things out staight away where with me it takes forever! After the show we went out for coffee and met up in Mc Donalds only to be over run with children. Sometimes when I look at children today they seem to me to be from another planet (Gosh I sound really old don’t I) But they behave in such a loud and agressive way it’s really quite a worry. Particuly when you think these are the people who will be looking after me when I get old. It may just be because I’m from the country but young things today seem to swomp and take over. Needless to say Maud went over and had a few words with a few of them much to the delight of the staff. Maud is such an insperation!
We’ll I’m going to crack on tonight and finnish off some of my designs for my meeting tomorrow with my web designer. I also have some new photos to share with you from my shoot at Tenterden which I shall post onto my facebook pages and a few that my freind Barry took of me when I was singing at the Midland railway.
Thanks for dropping in and do keep watching.
Toodle Pip and Bye for Now!

Back from the 1960s

We’ll it’s been another busy weekend only this time I’ve been doing the 1960s at the Midland Railway and my word don’t they take their trains serosuly there! It’s a real Puffer Nutters Paradise let me tell you!
At first I wasn’t sure when I took the booking if I would have enough repotire for 3 x 45 minute non repetative shows daily but as it turned out I had more than enough. When I counted up I had about 50 songs from the 50s and 60s plus 6 medleys arrangements so I was well coved and everyone seemed to enjoy my solection. I’ve really enjoyed this weekend as I was able to sing a real mix bag from Dusty Springfield to Frank Sinarta, Chuck Berry to Little Richard and Julie Andrews and I was even able to get everyone up and dancing to “Chapple of Love” in the Little Chapple at Swanwick Station along with a fabulous 60s band called the “Rapids” They were just great and had just the right sound – I really enjoyed their set It was grat working with you chaps!
A big thank-you to Barry who came along on Saturday and helped me with my equipment and thank-you to everyone at The Midland for putting on the event. Sunday was very busy as they also had a car rally at Stanwick Station and I played both Stations Swanwick and Butterley – so quite abit of moving about but great fun never-the-less. Between you and me I rather like singing Rock and Roll and throughing out the odd Johny B Goode but to say I’ve just been in short skirts this weekend would be something of a lie. Saturday night I was invited to an Edwardian dinner by my friends Anne and Rod Hughes which was just lovely – So I’ve been alsorts this weekend and thank-you to everyone for a great couple of days.
Well I’m just dashing out to the gym now as I want to give my body a good work-out bofore I hit another run of shows. Thanks for dropping in and do Keep Watching Bye for Now!

The Swinging 60s here we come!

This will be my last blog before the weekend as I’ve got most of my costumes packed up and my play lists sorted for the 1960s weekend at The Midland Railway. Tomorrow morning I’m in the hair dresses getting my hair and nails done before I hit the road and head up north – so I hope you can make it along as I’m singing at Butterey station at 10am and 4pm and Swanwick Station church at 1.45pm.
Last night I was going over songs everything from Little Richard, The Beatles, Shirlie Bassy to Dusty Springfield and beond – so I’m really looking forward to this weekend as it makes a change from singing the 40s! I’m also looking forward to meeting up with friends Friday and Saturday night so heres to a great weekend and lets hope the rain clears – but don’t worry, I do have Raining in my Heart in my repotire so I think I’ve got it covered!
That’s about all my news for now as I’m all set for another busy week next week from 40s glamour to 20s and 30s and a WAAF show for the Bugatti Club on Saturday night.
Thanks for dropping in and Bye for Now!

Antique Road Trip and Photos!

Today I was performing my 1940s “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree” show in Berkhamstead. Afterwards I poped into one of my favourite Antique centres “Home and Colonial” only to bump into David Barby and the filming of “Antique Road Trip” I love all those antique programs and we did have a bit of a chat. I don’t think David could quite get over my hair as I had it in a snood and rolled up in the front 1940s style. I told him I grew it myself only I think he thought it might have been a wig! Why do people think that?
A very lovely man with twinkley eyes who clearly loves and appricates vintage fashion – so it was a plesuare to meet him and have a natter!
Today I treated myself to some 1950s earings and a pair of white cotton gloves from Shu Shu another wonderful shop. I bought a hat from them the other day 1930s style and their shoes are just wonderful. That’s where my black and white Evette the Spivette shoes came from – from their other branch in Wendover. I’m a girl who knows where all the best shops and Antique centres are!
I owe a big thank-you to Dave and Bee Jackson who have just sent me their disk from  our photo shoot at  Sywell with the Red Barron plane. Do click through to my facebook pages and I shall post some of the photos up for you to see. Thanks for dropping in and do keep watching!
