NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

Back from London and Steam Punk!

Today I had to be down in Edgeware as I had an apointment with my Dentist. It’s a long story how I ended up in Edgeware when it comes to Dentist but one of the reasons I never changed is because there is the most wonderful fabric shop and I always like to make a bit of a day out of it. My appointment was at 12 which is a bit of a funny time as it eats into my lunch, but I made a point of going early so I could look round the shop first. I’ve been thinking alot about Steam Punk of late and I have to say I’m rather inspired. I know I shouldn’t say this but the 40s sceen is starting to get a little tired and I’m longing to do something a little more creative musicaly and visuly.  Being at Kew Bridge Steam Museum the other month did rather inspire me and I have been thinking about how I can produce something new. I’ve been looking at Victorian fashion and how I can put my own Steam Punk twist on it. Up to now I’ve always recreated historical periods excatly but steam punk would enable me to go back to my design roots.
Oh don’t worry I’m not going to go all werid on you all quite yet but I am looking for a new sound and I think I know just how to do it – so watch this space as I work on something musical exciting for the future!
I can spend hours looking at fabrics and the anoying thing was my dentist was running late so I could have spent another 20 minutes in the shop before getting to the dentist. However afterwards I needed to eat so I treated myself to lunch in town and spent the time doodling dresses and costumes. What I did see today was the most beautiful cream satin and when it moved it did so like water. Quite, quite lovely what a dress that would make wow!
On my way home I called into “Home and Colonial” a wonderful antique shop in Berkhamsted. I’m really thrilled because I was able to pick up some vintage petersham and hand made Victorian buttons which will go with one of my Victorian costumes I’m working on. I’ve got a design in my head which I want to make happen inspired by a Marie Lloyd costume.
Well tomorrow is Saturday and I must get on with my paper work. I have some great shows booked in for next year and I must do my contracts and tie up all those loose ends.
Keep Watching Toodle Pip!

Just a Quick Post!

I just wanted to post a very quick blog. In truth I’ve not felt very well today a little bit under the weather so I want to get to bed early as I’m due to be in London tomorrow for 12 noon. Today I had my regular check up at the hospitail for retonopaphy. It’s one of those things you have to go through every year when you are a Diabetic. They put drops in your eyes and then photograph them. The drops sting and I hate it and I become like a vampire afterwards avoiding sun light at all costs. I was lucky that my friend Joe was able to take me today as I can’t drive for at least 4 hours afterwards, but today I went straight to bed and I didn’t get up until 4pm. I had hoped that Tigger would have settled down with me but he is just so full of beans. All he wanted to do was play. Today we have had footballing Tigger, Athletic Tigger and Tazan Tigger. The curtains will never be the same again!
Yesterday I had a Hooray for Hollywood show which went really well and that evening I went out for Dinner with my friend Mike. I booked a table for us in Woburn and I treated him as it was his birthday and he treated me for my Birthday as by way of a belated birthday gift. What was rather lovely – he picked me up and took me in his Rolls Royce. Mind you it’s quite a big step up to get into one!
Well bed now I think as my eyes really hurt and I must get some rest. I have heeps of contracts to do as lots of work has come in for next year and quite a few last minute ones for November too.
Thanks for following and Toodle Pip for Now!

Catch Up Week

Today I have been working out in the gym building up an appertite as I went out for lunch with my friend Joe as by way of a belated birthday treat. In fact this month I have a fair amount of catching up to do with friends one way and another, so lots of meals out and lots of work outs as I never like to dine out with-out first having done a workout. All this exersising is really starting to pay off as I’m gettting the shape I’ve always wanted – but then you only get out what you put in and the body doesn’t lie. You can’t fake a figure and when you look at peoples bodies you can tell everything about their life styles.
It’s very intresting – I can remember one chap telling me he use to play alot of sport when he was younger but when I saw him in his shorts and how small his carf muscules were I new he was lieing. His muscule tone was all wrong – infact now I come to think about it there wasn’t any! One thing I’ve learn’t about men is that they seem to spend more time telling lies than the truth. Ladies be warned – let your eye be the judge, keep your wits about you and always use your commen sense!
I only have one show this week but 3 dinner dates and inbetween I want to catch up on my paper work. Oh that reminds me I must get started on my acounts as I like to keep thing very up to date but at least I’ve been able to do most of my Chritmas Shopping.
We’ll that’s about it from me today I shall do alittle work on pintrest tonight I think. Thanks for dropping in and do Keep Watching Bye for Now!

ATS Hednas and Gym Slips

It’s been a great weekend one way and another and I just thought I would quickly do my blog before settling down to watch Downton Abbey at 9pm. I’ve had a run on “We’ll Meet Again” ATS shows this week and Saturday I was down in Ealing performing for the Number One Club. As soon as I finnished my show I dashed up the M1 and headed for Hedna’s Vintage Night Club in Wavendon. Unforchatly I didn’t have time to change as Hedna’s is renowned for being very glamorous, however even though I was in uniform I didn’t look too out of place thank goodness. It was my first time there and what a great place Hedna’s is. It’s only very small but very friendly and it was lovely to meet up with Martin and Lesley. Although I didn’t get there until gone ten I caught the second set of the 3 belles singing group who were great and their lovely host and compere Simon. Both were a joy to watch and listen to and I can’t wait for the next one. So I’ve already bought tickets for the 8th December. I’ve sold 33 dates for December as it is but on the 8th I just have an afternoon show so I’m looking forward to taking a break, getting dressed up and being entertained. What a treat that will be!
Today I have been down in Hammersmith attending the Vintage Fashion fair – which to my mind is one of the most amazing places to be and a must for anyone who loves Vintage fashion. I’ve been so busy of late that this was the first time I had been for a whole year and in some ways was my little Birthday treat to me. I find it a grate place for insperation and I get lots of idears for costumes just by looking at fabrics and trimming and not forgetting the vintage dresses ofcourse. Today I bought some lovely wide silk bonnet ribbon and a orstrage feather. I want to make a Victorian bonnet to go with one of my costumes and then I come across a 1940s 50s girls gym slip. We’ll when I tried it on I couldn’t belive how stylish it looked so I thought I must have that. I’ve always loved pinafores and I shall have fun putting together an outfit to go with it. Oh I also bought a fabulous 1930s felt hat too. All the items I bought today were brown funny enough but all very stylish! Toodle Pip and do Keep Watching!
