NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

A Funny thing called Fate!

I’m going to start by saying sorry to all of you who weren’t able to get my Back to Japan blog up on my Face Book fan page the other day. This was down to me pressing the wrong button. It came through to my personal page but quite why it went wrong I’m not quite sure but there you go – that’s what happens when you mix Fiona Harrison with tecnolagee! I guess I wont be taking over the world quite yet!
These next few weeks are going to be exstreamly busy as I’ve had a rush of last minute bookings for November. I have a 2 week solid run of shows from the 7th to the 19th  which will be taking me from Norfolk to Bassingstoke so after Halloween I have a little lull and then it’s full steam ahead. Maybe fate has played a strange part in my Basingstoke booking as I’m booked to play at The Wheatsheaf Pub on the 11th. Back in 1900 the Wheatshaf Hotel as it was then was owned by my great Aunts Father Reuben Briggs so I shall be returning to my family’s roots which will be quite exsiting. I dare say much has changed as my mother was able to find an old post card of the Hotel in 1900 saying it offered Good Stabling and Motor Accommodation. I will be quite happy with just a car park! That’s the wonderful thing about being an entertainer you get to go everywhere and sometimes you don’t know what is waiting for you around the corner.
Don’t forget you can catch me on the 10th Nov at The Lion in Waddesdon and I shall also be doing a 1940s day at Leighton Middle School on the 14th for the children – Woburn Abbey Vintage Fair on the 15th and Aces High art gallery Wendover on the 17th and 18th. I also have quite a few private parties inbetween and in many cases I’m doubling some days so busy busy!
Today I’ve been getting all my contracts up to date and I can’t quite belive it myself but by the end of this year I would have compleated 240 shows – gosh! – lets hope it lasts. In showbiz you never know where the future is going to take you so fingers crossed!
We’ll thats about all my news for now. I will try and keep you all up to date through my blog, facebook and Twitter pages and don’t forget to try out my pintrest boards too. I shall try and post a few more photos for you tonight on pintrest and don’t forget you can click through from my web-site by clicking onto the P button on my follow Fiona tab. Thanks for following, Keep Watching and Toodle Pip!

Back to Japan!

Today I have been working out at the gym and afterwards I decided to have a sauna. To be honest I’ve not had a sauna in ages and it kind of brought back lots of memories of when I was singing out in Japan. I think what set me off was the clock above the door at the gym. They have all the different times around the world and I saw the clock set to Tokyo’s time.
I use to use the onson every day when I lived out there and I would always have a sauna and masarge after the show every night. Today I was able to stay in the sauna for 20 mins but in Japan I could hardly do 5 mins as they have the temprture much higher and my skin can’t take too much heat. I’m very white and I remember how the Japanesse women were fasinated by my skin and weston curves as they don’t have any! White skin is highly prized as they associate people with brown or tanned skin with the lower working class or dare I say pesants and field workers – belive me there is a real class structure asciated with skin colour! It kind of makes me laugh when you think so many girls in this country think tanned skin is beautiful! How fashions are different around the world! Here we wear bathing costumes in the sauna but there you don’t wear any clothes at all. Infact I spent most of my time in Japan walking around in my ukatter as did everyone eles. It’s funny how things come back to you after so long and I even sang through some of my Japanesse songs but I confess my Japanesse is more than a little rusty. I’m just glad there wasn’t anyone from Japan sitting next to me in the sauna!
I was ready for lunch afterwards and I just made it round to All Saints Church coffee shop (one of my favourte haunts). By this time I was as week as a kitten and in desprate need of sugar only 1.9 but nothing a home made slice of cake couldn’t put right Yummy! Thats the thing about diabetes you have to earn your sweetes and boy did I earn it today.
This afternoon I caught up with my friend Barry (It was lovely to see you Barry and thank-you for calling me). I’ve just had a dress fitting for a new dress design I’m working on. I have a ball to go to and I want something I can dance in and this dress will give me the freedom of movement I’m looking for. We’ll must dash – thanks for following and Toodle Pip for Now!

Ever-so Productive!

Today I have taken on my alter ego Prudie Jones and acheved great things on the paper work front – tied up many loose ends and I have even been able to sell a couple of weekends and most of Easter. Perhaps my day went well because I started well and I enjoyed a really good work-out at the gym this morning. I love the gym. I have a 20s and 30s show tomorrow and a few calls to make in the morning so I shall be out jogging first thing which does wonders for your figure!
I’ve had quite a few last minute bookings in for November and don’t forget you can catch me in Waddesdon, Bucks on 10th Nov at the Lion Pub. I shall be on stage at 9pm with my ATS show and then 1940s glamour at 10.30pm – 11.30pm.
For anyone who loves Vintage I will be performing at Woburn Abbey Sculture Gallery throught the day as part of their Vintage Christmas Boutique. Do check out the link and I hope very much you can make it along.

On the 17th and 18th November I will be at Aces High Art Gallery in Wendover, Bucks from 10.45 – 3.30pm singing through out the day so that should be another great weekend. As you can see there is much happening so do please keep watching and I hope you can make it along to one of these events.
Mean while back here at Harrison HQ Tigger is growing up at an alarming rate and he is into everything. It’s hard to belive we have had him for just over 2 weeks and everything is one big game to him. Just as I was getting out of bed the other day he thought it would be fun to scrach my bottom and now I’ve got a really big scrach right across my cheeks. My brother turned his back on him at breakfast and Tigger started eating his egg! I don’t know kittens will be kittens!

Victorian Workmanship!

Well it’s all happened this weekend! I only went and flooded the kitchen on Saturday so our poor washing machine was taken away and replaced with a brand new one this morning thank goodness! This weekend was one of the first where I didn’t have a show so I did something almost unheard of  and sat down and watched a film on Saturday night. “Back to the Future 3” which kind of goes a bit with my Steam Punk intrest of late. I hadn’t seen that film in ages but time travel has always intrested me along with Victorian design. Perhaps the Doc could design a Victorian washing machine – one that doesn’t flood!
Sunday I poped over to Rushden and Station 109 Antiques Centre and what a wonderful Antiques Centre station 109 is. I’m really thrilled as I was able to buy an original Victorian jacket which will go with my dress beautifully. I can’t get over the workmanship and corde work – and the best bit is it fits me perfectly. All that’s needed is a new lining. It’s amazing to think that this jacket was made about 1875 and yet it is still going strong. The workmanship is second to none! All I need to do now is to build up the bussel on the back of my dress and I’m all set for “Hands knees and Bomps a Daisy”!
I have another busy week ahead of me now with 4 shows to do and all different from “We’ll Meet Again” to “Putting on the Ritz”. Tomorrow I’m going all 50s and 60s so it’s time to bring out my net underskirts.
We’ll that’s about it from me for tonight other than to congratulate Iain and Laura on their forth comming Wedding due to take place at High Clere Castle next April. Gosh how romantic will that be! I can’t think of a more beautiful setting for a wedding!
Keep Watching and Toodle Pip!
