NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

Back from School!

Today I have been performing my ATS show at my old school – Leighton Middle School and I have to say I think this was the best one yet!
I’ve been going into schools for six years now and I’ve developed a special show for children which is more educasual based bringing in  facts about WW2, and how events infulenced the musical styles of the time. I always worry a bit before hand as I like to make sure my lesson plan is fun and will get the children motavated. No worries today as we had a ball although I felt a bit sorry for the French mistress who was struggling with “Mairzy Doats and Dozy Doats”. I think the favourite was “Yes we have no Bananas” because I give the children actions to do and it ties in with rationing!
Such Fun!
A big thank-you to Miss Short for inviting me. Miss short taught me music when I was at Leighton Middle and if it wasn’t for her I probably wouldn’t be a professional singer today. When I first came to the school I wanted so much to be in the school plays and do drama but because of my dislexia I couldn’t read the scripts so I was unable to take part. Thanks to Miss Short I joined the choir and before I knew it I was singing solos and dancing instead! Thank-you Miss Short I owe you alot – as music has played such an important part in my life ever since!
Don’t forget you can catch me tomorrow at Woburn Abbey singing all day for the Vintage Christmas Fair. I can’t quite deside which outfit to wear as I have a new 40s suit with knock-em dead shoulders and the hat pictured does look rather good with it. On second thoughts it might look a bit too manly as I do like to wear a tie with it so maybe something softer would look better. Oh I don’t know something will sugest it’s self no dout. I hope you can make it along – see you tomorrow and Toodle Pip!www.Vintagechristmasboutique.com

Diceing with Death!

Sorry I’ve not blogged for a few days but to be honest I’ve been really rushed off my feet with remberance and this week is just as busy if not more so.
For those of you who have been reading my facebook pages you will know I had trouble with my van on Friday and I was brought home from Norfolk by the AA. We thought it was just a puncher and all that was needed was a couple of new tyres. It seems on closer inspection it’s much more serorios. It looks like the van I bought has a bent surspension and has been involed in an acident as the tie rod is bent. That’s why the tyres had worn down and were in the state they were. The AA man said I had a lucky escape and I could have been killed which at the time I thought sounded a bit over dramatic until I saw the state of the tyres! Both had worn down to the metal and one still had rubber shavings still in it where the rod had gouged out the tyre! Also the two new tyres turned into four as the spear tyre also had a puncher and there was a split in one of the rear ones. It also looks like my exsorst is hanging off too so I think we can say I’ve been had over well and truly so now it’s time to kick but!

Despite everything I still kept all my engagements and so far I have been to Sawbridgeworth, Waddesden, Coventry and Marlow so still trucking thanks to Swifty. Thank goodness I kept my car!
Thank-you ever-so to Kim and Simon  for Saturday night fantastic job and don’t forget you can see me this Thursday at Woburn Abbey. I shall be sing all day from 10am – 4pm with 20mins on and 20mins off in the Tea room off the Sculture Gallary for the Vintage Christmas Fair. So I hope you can make it along as it looks like a lovely event.
Must go as my bed beckons and I’m apusalutly shattered. Keep Watching , Toodle Pip and bye for now!

We’ll Meet Again

It’s just a quick blog today as I have to get myself packed up for Norfolk and ready for Saturday’s shows. Today I did a show for a home where the residents suffer with very serous dementa and I’m just so pleased I was able to bring these people out of themselves through music.
To be a professional singer is a job of privalage and durring my carear I’ve seen it all. When I entered this room there were people shouting and auguing with each other but when I stated to sing they soon forgot their problems and started to join in with me. I think what is very sobering is this could be anyone of us in a few years time and I can’t think of anything worse than to loose ones mind. Not everyone can entertain people with dementa as it is a highly skilled job. Today was a great success and very rewarding!
I also did a small photo shoot with my friend Joe who has been niked named The Poppy Man of Pitstone as he stands out-side the Village stores and collects for the whole durration for the appeal. I only wish there were more people like Joe in the world. Sadly one hears so many stories about people who use the appeal to line their own pockets and don’t give to charity at all. Such people should be taken out and shot. I can’t think of anything more dishonest and dispickable than to steel from charity. I hope I never come into contact with one as I feel sure I would delight in giving them a very public dressing down!
Must dash now – much to do and Toodle Pip!
