NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

Dancing on the Edge and Come Dine with Me!

Monday saw the last eposide of  Dancing on the Edge and wasn’t it gripping too. I can’t tell you just how much I’ve been enjoying it. The way the friends slip away and change their point of view towards the band was wonderfuly portrayed over Lavina’s tea party.  But how they also relise all is not as it should be and start to pull together to help Louis escape from the police with Pamla saving the day – I just thought was fanstastic! I’m really going to miss the series now it’s finnished but at least I can enjoy the CD and do – as I’ve been playing it non stop while driving to my shows.

If you have been following my blogs you will know I’ve been out and about a fair bit these last few weeks and yesterday I was singing at Russell House for a dinner party. Dispite the cold weather I was singing out-side by a beautiful 1947 car called Henretta. I spent ages trying to choose the right out fit to wear and in the end it was a case of going with the mink, only because it was too cold to wear anything eles. I was asked to sing by a lovely gentleman Peter Pickering who all this week has been taking part in the TV program “Come Dine with Me”. From what I saw I think his dinner party went really well and all the guests seemed to be having a fantastic time although me being me I wish I had sung better but after a while the cold really starts to bite. The sound man liked the fact I wore my mink as it has an inside pocket which was the perfect place to hide the mike pack. The last time I wore one of those they had to tuck it in my knickers!
I was lucky to have my friend Kim with me last night who did sound and also did an amazing job on my hair so Thank-you so much Kim it was great to have you there!
I always worry about doing those sorts of shows because I’m really un lucky and things have a habit of going wrong for me. I usaly end-up looking a bit silly as I always seem to try too hard and you never know how you are going to be edited. I’m a little woried about the lighting as I had this lovely make-up base on but when we came to film they brought in these big white lights which I think may well have bleached out my skin. If that is the case my blusher will seem out of balance and I may well end up looking more like Coco the clown so I’m praying everything will be alright. The original plan was for me to wear my Kingfisher satin and lace evening coat over my black dress so that would have been a good strong colour against my skin – Then at the very last minute we went with the white mink. So belive me I am praying all will be well!
Tomorrow I have another “We’ll Meet Again” show and then I’m catching up with paper work this weekend.
Time for bed I think thanks for following and Toodle Pip for Now!

Between Shows!

It’s just a very quick blog this morning as I’m between shows. It’s only Sunday and I’ve already done a Music Hall and a 1940s “We’ll Meet Again”. I have a private Birthday Party this afternoon and then shows all next week. Friday was an intresting one – me singing songs like “Honeysuckle and the Bee” and “I do like to be Beside the Seaside” as  snow was falling out side the window. So thank-you to every-one at the Heath Way Ladies Club I’m so pleased you enjoyed the show and my opera too.
Next week is going to be mostly 1940s which I don’t mind at all in this weather. Full ATS uniform keeps you warm but I do have a few 40s glamour ones to do too. On Tuesday evening I’m singing at a dinner party at Russell House and depending on the weather they want me out-side in the arber with a cream and brown 1947 car as the back drop. If the weather is like this we will have to be in the drawing room which will be warmer for every-one concerned so we will just have to see.
Tonight I have a rehursal with The South Beds Concert band and Bill is comming along with me tonight who did the concert band arrangement for my Wartime Singalong Medley so it will be fun working as one.
Well I must sign off now as I need to go through my costumes and sort out something glamorous for Tuesday with a few either or options.
Toodle Pip and Keep Watching!

Dancing on the Edge with the Louis Lester Band!

As so many of you know I’ve had a really difficult time the last few days one way and another with the hackers breaking into my e-mails and address book. So my spirits were lifted today when I recived my Louis Lester CD from the TV drama “Dancing on the Edge”. I just love the 1930s and that sort of music and it was a real joy to play the CD in Connie as I made my way to my show this afternoon. There are a few songs on the CD I would like to do myself but as all the songs were writain for the drama by Adrian Johnston I don’t know if the sheet music is available. We will have to see as I would love to do “On top of the World” and “Dancing on the Moon”.
I’ve really been enjoying the drama and I reconise many of the locations from having sung there myself. Last Mondays eposode was really thought provoking and highlighted how you can be in vogue one minute and out the next. How the people around you who you think are friends can quickly change direction as loyalties are bought. The clever thing is the so called friends don’t even realise they’ve been bought as they enjoy their new offices and dream of furthering their careers with the rich American tiecoon Mr Marsterson.
Stephen Poliakoff is brillant and the atention to detail is fantastic. My only critasizum would be the number of extras needed for the hotel scenes. I’ve played large hotels and there aren’t quite enough people sitting down for dinner to match with the proportions of the hotel. Extras cost money and it is only a little niggle but still wonderful never the less and I can’t wait for the last eposide. The best thing we’ve seen on TV for a long time!
Tomorrow I’m doing Music Hall for a private party in Iver so I shall be out most of the day and then I’m booked to do the 1940s on Saturday in High Wycombe so I’m out and about as usal.

I’m sorry to say I still don’t have access to facebook as the hackers have changed all my personal information.
