NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

Off to The East Anglian Railway Museum!

It seems I’m not the only one who has been ill these last few weeks and just as I’m starting to get right again I’m hearing about all sorts of people being struck down with ill health. This weekend I’m off to Colchester as I’m booked to play at The East Anglian Railway Museum. Sadly so many of their volunteers have been taken poorly that they have had to scale things down – but the show must go on and I’m looking forward to playing the Museum very much as it will be my first time to Colchester. So I hope you can all make it along to support the event. Do check out their web -site at www.earm.co.uk they also have a facebook page too so do take a look www.facebook.com/eastanglianrailwaymuseum I’m down to do 3 x 45 minute shows daily. Saturday 11.30am ATS 1.30pm “Stars and Stripes”, 3.30pm “In the Mood” American Glamour, Sunday 11.30am Wrens, 1.30pm “Hooray for Hollywood” 3.30pm WAAF.
Tonight I’m off to the recording studio to pick up a new track of my War Time Sing along Medley. I first had this track made back in 1995 from my band parts and how technology has moved on from those early days of backing tracks. What was good back then just isn’t good enough now. Well not good enough for me anyway. When I think the amount of money I’ve spent on music and backing tracks over the years it’s frightening. I sometimes wonder if anyone really notices apart from me. Everything these days is all about being cheap and it does make me very sad that the quality seems to have gone out of events. Still onward and upwards as they say.
Tomorrow I’m in two minds to attend an auction as there is a Victorian dress I have my eye on and I can’t make up my mind weather to put a bid in or not. The wonderful thing is it does fit me but my only worry is if it would be too fragile to wear on stage. I have a Victorian bonnet which would look lovely with it so I have to think very carefully if this would be a good investment! Wants and Needs Miss Harrison!
Just to keep you up to speed with my web-site we hope to have my new FAQ page up very soon. Things got a bit delayed with my ill health but I know Rachel is working hard on it as I write. We will also be up loading my “Sound of Music” video on Monday so Keep Watching!
I shall sign off now as I need to get down to the recording studio.
Thanks for following and Toodle Pip!

Meeting the Queen and “Thanet at War”!

Me with the Queen!

This weekend has been really action packed with me bumping into the Queen on Saturday Night at Kate and Wills Royal Baby Celebration Show in Princess Risbough. OK I confess the Queen was a cardboard cut-out but it was rather nice to have HRH standing beside me on the stage never-the-less! So thank-you to Arthur Edwards for inviting me and I’m so pleased you all enjoyed the show. It’s amazing just how many baby songs one has in ones repertoire when you start to think about it.
Sunday morning I was off bright and early down to Ramsgate as I was booked to sing for “Thanet at War”. On this occasion I was thrilled to have some company as my friend Sundra Dudley joined me for the drive down. Sandra and I go back years and last weekend I had the pleasure of singing for Hare Fest which Sandra organised. So thank-you Sandra for joining me and for all your help. It’s great just having another pair of hands and I hope you enjoyed the event!

Sandra at The Walpole Bay Hotel, Cliftonville.

Sandra and I at The Hungry Horse in Margate!

This was Sandra’s first time to a 1940s event and once again they had lots of vintage vichels and stalls selling all sorts of treasures. I really enjoyed my bread pudding from the Naffi Waggon and afterwards Sandra and I headed off to Margate for dinner. We had hoped to dine at The Walpole Bay Holel at Cliftonville but sadly they were fully booked for dinner which was a real shame as it looks like my sort of place. The sort of hotel where you would expect Hinge and Bracket to go on holiday and take afternoon tea. It’s very me and I really must tell my friend Kim as we love to play at Hinge and Bracket! Do check out their web-site and one day I must return for afternoon tea. www.walpolebayhotel.co.uk
In the end we were able to find something to eat in Margate at the Hungry Horse and by the end of the day and after 2 x 60 minute shows Sandra and I really were Hungry Horses. Great meals well cooked and presented so a place we would both recommend. Sandra had booked herself into a hotel in Margate and I was booked into a lovely B&B in Ramsgate called The Fairholme Guest House. If ever you find yourself down that way and need a place to stay do check out their web-site www.fairholmeguesthouse.co.uk
Today I was back on the road again as I had a 1.30pm show in Harrow for the Middlesex New Synagogue. I left Ramsgate at 8am as I wasn’t too sure what the M25 was going to be like but I sailed through with-out any problems at all until it came to finding the Synagogue. Although the sat nave took me to the road it took me ages to find it but we got there in the end and my show went down really well. So all’s well that ends well!
Time for bed now so I shall sign off for tonight. More news to follow this week. Keep Watching and thanks for following Toodle Pip! 😉

A Royal Baby Celabration Show and off to Thanet!

Firstly can I start my blog tonight by thanking you all for your kind text and face book messages wishing me well over this past week. As so many of you already know I have been laid up in bed with a tummy bug but I’m pleased to say I’m feeling so much better and I was back to work today with my first show in five days. I confess at first I felt a little away with the fairies to begin with but I soon got back into my stride and it was lovely to be back behind a microphone again singing. I’m still a little week and after standing for an hour I was ready for a cup of tea and a sit down but I got through it OK and I’m looking forward to a busy weekend.
Speaking of which tomorrow I will be performing in Pincess Risborough for a Celebration of the new Royal birth – so I shall be singing all my baby songs. Baby Face, Yes Sir that’s my Baby, I can’t Give you Anything but Love Baby and all that sort of thing so I had better finish off my show plans. Then Sunday I’m heading down to Ramsgate bright and early as I’m booked to sing for a 1940s event “Thanet at War” taking place at Government Acre, Ramsgate, CT11 0HE. So I hope you can all make it along. I shall be on stage at 12 noon with my ATS “We’ll Meet Again” Show and then back on at 3pm with my American Swing Show so I hope you can all make it along to see me. I shall be staying over in Ramsgate Sunday night and then dashing back to North London Monday morning as I’m booked to sing for a Synagogue in Harrow with my “Putting on the Ritz” show so it’s all go.
In the mean time sorry I haven’t been able to answer all your e-mails this week but I am on the case and I will set to it tomorrow.
As for now – bed beckons and thank-you once again for all your kind comments. There are times when I have to give in to being human much as I hate to but it does look like I’m on the mend at long last.
Thanks for following and Toodle Pip for Now!
