NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

Behind the Scenes!

Just a quick blog to say I’ve been dashing about all day getting everything ready for this weekend and the launch of Evette the Spivette. I’ve had to draft in some extra help and I can’t thank Joe enough who has been working all day polishing my shoes and brasses and putting 100 CD inserts into my CDs ready for the season. The next month is so busy I wont know if I’m coming or going with the Jubilee and the run up to D-Day and my return visit to France – so I’m having to be really organised! I can’t thank Joe enough and even now I’m dashing writing this blog before my dress fitting at 8.15pm. By 9pm I want to be back in rehursals for Evette which will take me up to 12am.
This will be my last blog before the weekend and to find out more about my show times and shows do check my last blog. Tomorrow I’m off about 10am as I have some bussness in Hastings before heading onto Tenterden. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for good weather for Monday as I’m planning on doimg an Edwardian Swim suite photo shoot by the sea in Bexhill. It seemed like a good time to do the shoot as I’m not far from the sea this weekend. Must dash and thanks for reading and I hope you can all make my shows! ;->

Tenterden Here We Come!

Sorry I didn’t get to blog you all yesterday but in truth I was so tired after rehursals I put myself to bed about 7pm and slept through to 9am this morning. I needed to catch up on sleep from the work I did at the weekend and now I’m back to my bouncy self and I even went out jogging this morning which I enjoyed very much!
Just a quick blog today as I have to get back rehursing and I’m due at the printers later to pick up some new CD inlays. I also have The Statley Homes of England to down load onto my net book. Sadly I wasn’t able to get the full backing track I ordered due to Tim’s computer going down but dear old Richard has done a piano backing track of it which will keep me going for now. I shall work it into the act – and with it being Nole Coward, solo piano will work quite well until I can replace it with the proper track.
I’ve just got my times through for the weekend Sat 11.30am-12.15pm US WAVES, 2pm-2.45pm Evette the Spivette, 4.45pm-5.30pm Lindy Hop and Sun 11.30am-12.15pm ATS, 2pm-2.45pm Evette the Spivette 4.45pm-5.30pm Lindy Hop. I don’t normaly repeat shows over the weekend but I know you are all keen to see Evette which is why I’m performing her both days and on Saturday there will also be a 1940s wedding and a Dakota play pass. See you at the Kent and East Sussex Railway 19th 20th May! Keep Watching!

Back from Bassingbourn!

Hello one and all it’s been a busy weekend after doing 5 x 45 min shows on the Saturday and 1 x 60 min show Sunday. In truth I haven’t quite come round or unpacked proply yet. On this occasion I did my own sound which was hard going as I was using my big kit power amp and 2 x 300 speakers + my little ones too. On Sunday I had some help as Kim was able to do sound for me which makes all the difference when it comes to packing up. So thank-you Kim! There are times when I really wish I was a man and I just had that extra strengh. But saying that I’m quite strong and I can throw up my 300s ok. It’s just alot when you have 5 shows + costume changes and with my diabites I have to make sure I have enough food to cope with the extra phisical work – nothing I can’t handle – I just have to be very organised, eat proply and alway carry sugar just to be on the safe side!
This weekend I had the pleasure of working with Paul Casper the UK’s number one Geoge Formby and thank-you Paul for helping me strike down my kit Saturday and watching my Saturday evening set in the bar. It was great working with you and I enjoyed our chats very much. I hope very much we meet again on the 40s circit and I have the pleasure of working with you. A big thank-you to Chis and Amy who worked so hard to put on this event you should both be very proud and I look forward to seeing you in France on the 6th June. There you can sit back and enjoy both my shows in Arromanches and not have to worry about a thing.
It’s full steam ahead now with my Evette Show and I’ve set tomorrow aside to rehurse. I was in the recording studio this morning picking up The Statley Homes of England what a brillant writer Nole Coward was. Toodle Pip for now and do keep Watching! ;->
PS Many thanks to Olly for the photo – Me at Bassingbourn with a couple of Jolly Tars!

Tower Museum Bassingbourn

Dont forget to come along to the Tower Museum at Bassingbourn this Saturday and Sunday 12th and 13th May. A Wonderful 1940s War Time Weekend with WW2 Vintage and Military vehicles, Living History Groups, B17 Cockpit, Aircraft Displays and so much more. I shall be singing at 4.15pm both days ATS Saturday WAAF Sunday. Sadly Dan and Laura Curtis have had to pull out as they were down to do The Great American songbook. I shall be covering their slots at 11.30am -12.15pm both days. I have lots of American music and A Great American Song Book show so no worries and I may well mix things around with my Horray for Hollywood and Stars and Stripes Show too! Do come early as gates open at 10am and there will be lots to see!
Once again it’s been a busy day – I was over at Bassingbourn this morning having a look at the stages and hats off to Chris and Amy who have worked so hard to make this event happen. All the money raised will go towards The Tower Museum and for those of you who know your history this was the home of the “Memphis Belle” Station 121.

This will be my last blog before the weekend as I have a show towmorrow and I will then be heading onto Bassingbourne straight afterwards and staying at the officer’s Mess. I shall be doing my own sound this weekend although wonderful Kim will be popping along on the Sunday with the family so I may well get a bit of a helping hand! I shall be back in the recording studio first thing Monday morning sorting out the rest of my tracks for Evette the Spivette and I shall be launching her the following weekend. Do keep Watching and Bye for Now!
