I’ve so many irons in the fire at the mo I’m not really sure if I’m comming or going. There are so many wonderful things happening I’m like a cat on a hot tin roof. Today I was at the hair dresses getting my roots done – oh bother I shouldn’t have admited to that – oh dear too late now! All in prep for this weekend! While I was at the hair dresses I was singing away to myself learning words for my Evette show. I also continued singing in my head while I was having lunch in a local cafe. I’m so pleased with the arrangements and I’m really looking forward to staging the show although there is still much work to do and alot of running back and forward to the studio so I get things just right.
It must be me but so much artistrey seems to have left the 1940s sceen of late where any old thing seems to do. There are far too many want-to-bes who fail to do. Bring back talent – musicality – charismar and style – Evette the Spivette here we come!

It’s the 8th May today and after a very busy weekend I was thinking I would have today off to rehears some songs. But sure enough I got a call first thing this morning to cover 2 shows in Nuneaton. My friend Madaline Brown had lost here voice so I was called in to cover with my ATS We’ll Meet Again Show which by luck I was able to do. I had left two weeks aside to rehears my Evette Show and I was just pleased I was able to help every-one out. Normaly I’m booked 4 times over – this time I’ve spread much of Mays work over into June with 28 dates gone so far. It’s going to be a very busy Summer!
I got back from the recording studio about 11pm last night and I’m really pleased with my new tracks. “The Lady is a Tramp” and my finaly number “Blow Gabrial Blow”. Many of you already know I spend alot of time and money on my music and alot of thought goes into the arrangements. I’m not giving the whole game away about my ideas and music as I want you all to come along and see my show on the 19th and 20th May at the Kent and East Sussex, but needless to say Evette is comming on a treat and don’t forget you can catch me this weekend at Bassingbourn. Keep Watching! ;->

Hello one and all just back and a quick blog to let you know what a great weekend I’ve just had working with the lovely Kim. Saturday night we were working in Stratford- Upon-Avon for the Air Sea Rescure at the very smart Falcon Hotel so it was WAAF and 1940s glamour. What a great night we had and Sunday we went on to Newark before having a little wonder around Stratford. I’m afraid I ended up buying a Victorian black jet Tiaria in an antique centre just around the corner from the hotel – I’ve got just the dress for that when I get round to doing the photo shoot!.
Sundays show was fantastic at Newark Showground for the Auto Sleepers Owners Club National Rally. I was booked to do Music Hall and Cabaret and for this show I used my big rig as we had 250 people to play to. I’m so proud of Kim because she did a fabulous job. My second set was quite a mix Musical theatre, Big Band and Swing, Opera to Rock and Roll which is a lot for a sound engineer to cope with. Kim took everything in her stride and we got a standing ovation when I sang Nessun Dorma!
I’m off to the recording studio tonight to pick up some of my new tracks for the Evette the Spivette show. Do keep watching and thank-you Kim you were just great! ;->

Today I’ve been getting everything ready in prep for my first weekend away. So this morning I had a rehursal with lovely Kim my sound engineer for the weekend. It was the first time I was able to set up my big kit and sure enough a problem -I couldn’t get my big speakers working. I had set it all up the night before but couldn’t work out what was wrong. I knew I had wired it up right but checked it over again -speaker leads – volume – yes power amp on. Yes yes check check. In the end I phoned Steve from Kachagogoo and asked him to check it over because I needed him to have a look at it in situe. Can you belive it Yes everything was wired up right (gold star) but I hadn’t pushed the speaker leads in the power amp and twised them in enough. I knew it was something very simple but I’m too gentle and quite frankly when it comes to speaker leads you really have to give them a good shuve and twist particuly with those ends!
There are times when I really wish I was a man as they are naturally heavy handed and I’m far too careful. Brute Fource and Ignarence comes to mind!
Rehursal went very well and a big thank-you to Joe for my Evette the Spivette case and for getting that extra milatary polish on my buttons and shoes! I’ve just had my case branded up for the Evette the Spivette show and I launch her on the 19th and 20th May at Kent and East Sussex Railway. I shall also be at Bassingbourn 12th and 13th May.
I go away tomorrow so this will be my last blog before the weekend but I will be back blogging Monday all being well before hitting the recording studio. The van is being valeted as I type and all my costumes are packed up ready. I’m just off to have my nails done now. Toodle Pip and I shall let you know how thing went Monday. keep Watching!
