NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

Back on the Radio!

Well it’s been a very busy week one way and another. I started back to work yesterday with my first show after my break and I was performing songs from the shows. You can’t really go wrong with musicals and I think last nights audiance would have been quite happy to have let me sung right through into the early hours. So thank-you Sheila for your lovely e-mail today I’m so pleased everyone enjoyed the show, it was a pleasure to sing for you all.
This week I have been working really hard to get all my contracts up to date and clear my desk of paper work as there is always much to do. I did a big mail shoot on Wednesday which is proving to be a great success. The phone has been red hot ever since and I’ve already sold over 170 dates for this year so lots more contracts to do. Nine dates have sold in the last 2 days and most of the prime dates like VE Day, St Georges Day, Easter and Trafelga Day have gone although I still have VJ Day 15th Aug and Battle of Britain Day 15th Sept available but not for long I exspect.
Today I spent my morning with the Leighton Buzzard womens group which was great fun and I read the ladies Maya Angelou’s poem “Still I Rise”. Every woman should have a copy! What a wonderful group and I look forward to meeting you all again soon so thank-you for inviting me!
This afternoon I was over in Luton on Alan Pagram’s radio show on L and D radio. Alan was very kind and we did the whole 2 hour program together. He played a real cross section of my music from “Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend” to “Ave Maria” so thank-you Alan for inviting me onto your show it was an honour!
Well must dash now as I need to do a few contracts before bed. Thanks for following and Toodle Pip!

What’s In a Name?

James and I had a fantastic day at Stoneleigh Militaria yesterday and it was great to meet up with so many friends. I was very good and although I was tempted to buy the odd 1940s suit I  resisted and bought a 1940s wooden bar broach instead. Which is just as well as I am rather over run with vintage clothes – but then thats just me!
Today has been one of those days of tieing up loose ends and one thing I had to sort out was my name Fiona Harrison.
The entertainment bussness is a funny game and one thing you have to sercure very early on in your career is your stage name. This I did 20 years ago when I joined Equity because no-one in Equity can have the same name as yours. However not every one relises just how important this is and if you don’t regester your name it can cause real confusion later on if you have two people doing a simular thing.
I was first made aware of the Soprano Fiona Harrison working at the Welsh National Opera when I recived her TV royalties for her apearance in The Merry Widow some years ago. I sent them back and I was told  she was now using the stage name of Fiona Harrison-Wolf. All sorted – no worries then but it seems she has been using the name Fiona Harrison professionly and now that’s starting to cause a problem with the modern world and Google. I have often been mistaken for her on stage as we don’t look that dissimular. My career took a different path but when I first started singing professionaly I performed in classial concerts before finding a neach for myself as a Soprano and costume artist. So as you can see it’s very important this is sorted out particuly as Fiona is now branching out with a company called Opera Belles.
I rang the Welsh National Opera today and as you can imagine they were very surprized to hear from me so fingers crossed we can get this sorted out soon and I hope Fiona starts useing her double barrel name again.
We’ll time for bed I think. Thank-you for following  and Toodle Pip for now Keep Watching!

See you at Stoneleigh!

It’s just a very quick blog to say I shall be at Stoeleigh Militaria, Stoneleigh Park, Coventry tomorrow so if you see me do come up and say hi. I’ve advertised in the broucher and this year they have gone for full colour rather than the green paper one they always had before. So if you are going make sure you pick up your copy as it looks really great!www.militariashows.com
Stoneleigh is a fantastic place to go to if you are looking for anything Military and you can buy everything there from a Willes Jeep to a smart 1940s hat! So much to see so I wonder if anything tomorrow will take my eye! One of my favourite stalls is Vintage and Revival so do check them out www.vintage-revivalclothing.co.uk
I shall be giving my dear friend James a lift so an early start and early to bed as I don’t want to be late!
Well must dash as I’ve lots of little jobs to do. Thank-you for following and Toodle Pip for Now!
