I’ve had a very intresting meeting today with a fantastic woman called Oonagh Hagan. Together we are going to be staging a tea party at The Green House tea room in Leighton Buzzard in May to encourge people to sign the Fawcett Society’s petition to tell David Cameron not to “Turn back time on women’s equality”. Check out the link www.fawcettsociety.org.uk
The petition is to say no to the goverments triple jeopardy of turning back time on women’s equality which means A, Rising female unemployment, B, A possible widening of the pay gap, C, A Reduction in women’s incomes, D, Increasing numbers of women being forced to give up paid work, E, A reduction in women’s independance and F Women’s access to vital support services undermind. So I’m sure you will agree a very good course and something to stand up for.
I was checking out the Fawcett Society today and what an intresting organisation. It dates back to 1866 where Millicent Fawcett began her life times work leading the peaceful campaign for womens votes. The Fawcett society  belives in closing the inequality gap between women and men and as I belive in feminism I’m all for that!
We will be staging the tea party on Friday 17th May where we will all be dressing up 1950s style so if you are about do drop into the Green House, High Street, Leighton Buzzard, take tea and enjoy someting to eat while signing the petition. I will be singing all day from 10am to 5pm 20minutes on and 20minutes off so do join us and give your surport.
To any women out there who may have experacenced descrimination in the work place or suffered abuse and remember abuse isn’t just phisical it can be phycalogical and financial then let me leave you with this poem I discoved the other day by the black poet Maya Angelou

Still I Rise
You may write me down in history with your bitter, twisted lies,
Tou may trod me in the very dirt but still, like dust, I’ll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you? Why are you beset with gloom?
Cause I walk like I’ve got oil well pumping in my living room

Just like moons and like suns, with the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high, Still I’ll rise

Did you want to see me broken? Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops, weakend by my soulful cries?

Does my haughtiness offend you? Don’t you take it awful hard
Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines Diggin’ in my own backyard

You may shoot me with your words, you may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,But still, like air, I’ll rise

What a fantastic poem Keep following – Toodle Pip!

Well it’s been a great few days away and despite all the snow it didn’t put me off or stop me in the least. But then I am my fathers daughter and when I set my mind to do something I do it! Brave or fool hardy I’m not sure which for when you look there is so little to choose between the two but knowing me I’m probably the latter!
To say all was un-eventful wouldn’t be true but then I love a chanllenge and dispite the dreadful conditions last Friday on the M1 Swifty and I kept trucking and we made it to my secret retreat or be it  – 4 hours later than planned – but who cares – I did it with help from little Swifty! That’s a Harrison for you!
These last few days have been really important it’s enabled me to get my acounts straight and up to date and I’ve enjoyed the quite time. I’ve been out jogging every day dispite the snow because I’m a nutter – much to the amusement of the locals seeing me run in my Russian hat but I don’t care! I feel great and I love that feeling when your body starts to knit together after lots of exersice. I’ve even been working on my fexability stretching out and doing the splits. Gosh I haven’t done that in a while! When I’m at home the phone is constantly going and I have endless e-mails to answer not that I’m complaining but it was just nice to get away. Well it’s back to work now and I have lots of catching up to do. 2013 is going to be a really intresting year as lots of new opertunities are comming my way which will be taking me to some great and exciting locations. So I’m really looking forward to what this year will bring.
Comming home today was a bit of an adventure poor Swifty’s battery had given up in the cold so I had to call the AA. Two things every entertainer needs and should never let slip AA membership and Equity the must haves. After a jump start and a good run home I called into Halfords and got a new battery fitted so Swifty is now as good as new despite her dented door. I really must do something about that!
Thank-you for all your comments about my latist Ave Maria video I’m pleased you’ve all been enjoying it. I had a phone call from Andrew while I was away saying there is a flash in it which shouldn’t be there so we may have to re-load it again to You Tube. I will have a look tomorrow when I’m fresh.
Thank-you to every-one for following  my blogs. I’m amazed at just how many of you do and how far afield you hail from. Keep Watching!
Time for bed I think so do keep following as I have a great year planned and I shall keep you all up to date with my news as it happens!
Bye for Now and Toodle Pip!

Bye for Now and Toodle Pip!

It’s just a very quick blog tonight to say I’m off on my hoils and my Ave Maria video is now up loaded to You Tube so if you get the chance do take a look. You can view it on my facebook pages and also by visiting my web-site www.fionaharrison.biz  by clicking onto my you tube chanel which is in the cream box in the top left corner. So I hope you all enjoy watching it as much as I did making it! I know most of you know me from the 1940s sceen but this is what I trained to do so it’s nice to go back to my roots and do what I call some proper singing!
Ar here we go I’ve found it – here is a direct link
http://youtu.be/XCNWG5SN6pY
Anyway must dash – I’m keeping my fingers crossed we don’t get too much snow tomorrow not that I’m going to be put off. I’ve paid my money so I’m going on holiday regardless! All being well and if I don’t get snowed in I should be back on Tuesday!

Today has been a really good day as I have been working with Andrew editing my Ave Maria and Christmas videos we shot last week at All Saints Church. I have to say I’m really pleased – but that’s the thing, when you work with professionals you get what you want and it always pays off in the long run. So money well spent and I look forward to making more films in the future!
I will be seeing my web designer, Rachel of Spirit Digital Marketing tomorrow so I shall be leaving Ave Maria with her to up load while I’m away but I’m afraid you will have to wait for Christmas 2013 before you can see my Christmas video. That’s staying in the can until then – so something to look forward to!
In the meantime I’m going away for a short break on Friday as I need a bit of a holiday. I’m looking forward to having some quiet time alone and it will give me a chance to catch up with my acounts and I can go out running every day as I love to exersice! So lets hope we don’t get too much snow!
I’m pleased to say my diary is filling up nicely for 2013 but don’t forget I’m also taking bookings for 2014/15 so I hope you like the new advert. If you are planning an event do give me a call. Remember 2014 is going to be a very important year with it being the 70th for D-Day and the centinary for World War 1 a period I also do.
Well must dash lots to do and I still have quite a few contacts I must finnish off tonight.
Thanks for Following and Toodle Pip!
