It’s just a very quick blog tonight before bed as I look back over a fantastic weekend of pleasure. If you caught my last blog you will know I was up in Coventry on Friday at the Original Re-Enactors Market and this weekend I have enjoyed some time out with my friend Lizzie going out for tea and visiting Antique Centres. Saturday night we went to Hedna’s Vintage Night Club in Wavendon and enjoyed listening to Lady Ella. A bit of a treat not having to sing myself – I can’t tell you how wonderful it was to sit back and watch someone eles do all the work for a change. Hedna’s always post up lots of great photos so do click onto my facebook page to see us all. We also made some great new friends so a good night was had by all I should say http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fiona-Harrison-A-Voice-in-a-Million/143965822288531
Back to work tomorrow as I need to get down the gym and catch up with e-mails and paper work. I also have 4 shows to do this week mostly 1950s and 60s but Saturday I should be singing at The Chiltern Open Air Museum for a 1940s tea dance so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for good weather as it would be a shame if they felt it nessaary to cancell owing to bad weather.
I shall deal with all that stuff tomorrow.
Thanks for following and Toodle Pip!

To-day I have been at the Original Re-Enactors Market which is held 2s a year at Ryton on Dunsmore which is just outside of Coventry. I really enjoy this market as it is attended by creative people and where you can buy everything from a suit of armer to a Victorian corsette. It’s a wonderful place to find insperation and I always enjoy looking at the fabrics in particular the silks and wools. When ever I go I always seem to spend most of my time chatting with the stall holders as they are really intresting to talk to and you can learn alot about period costume and fabrics. There is one stall holder who sells the most wonderful canes and I really fancy one for my Berlington Bertie act. They also stock the Steam Punk look and I’m rather fond of some of their top hats – not that I need another top hat as I have 3 already but I do rather enjoy tring them on never the less particuly as they come in a full range of colours. Check out their web-site www.hookedoncountry.co.uk
I was also able to make contact with a fantastic wig maker Sandria Reese as I could do with a few new hair pieces. My ringlettes are looking tired and I would like a plat I could wear like a head band Ginger Rodgers style. Today I was just looking but I hope in time I will be able to treat myself. Here is her web-site www.q5wigs.co.uk
I’ve also been looking at boots today as my Victorian lace up ones are starting to wear out and I could do with some new ones but it seems I have rather small feet as most of the boots on display seemed to be around a size 5 and I’m more of a 4! Check out Historical Shoes and Boots www.andyburke.co.uk
I’m still keeping my eyes pealed for a smart pair of thigh boots but as yet I haven’t seen what I’m looking for but I shall keep on with the hunt as I know they will come to me in time – things always do!
So a great day all in all – Now I’m back in the office I can let you know I have a new video show reel which has just been up loaded to You Tube. This was taken when I was performing at Sandwich’s 1940s day back in August by a young chap called David Boyle. It’s his very first video and I think you will agree for a first time it’s fantastic so Well Done David and hats off to you! Do check out the link

Well that’s about it from me for tonight thank-you for following and Toodle Pip for Now!

It’s been a couple of busy days and thank-you to every-one who came along to the concert at All Saints Church last night with the South Beds Concert Band. A big thank-you to my friend Kim who did sound for me and Bill who helped me set up earlier that after noon. Just having an extra pair of hands can make all the difference. It’s not so much the setting up as getting the rig in from the van to the Church that’s often the thing that takes the time. I’m so pleased I went with my big rig because we had about 40 musos in total so the bigger speakes balanced better as I set them back and my voice balanced with the band bautifuly. There is something special about Ev speakers I adore them and the sound they give is second to none – worth every penny!
I sang my “War Time Sing along Medley” which had been especialy arranged for the concert band by Bill Pollard and also two Vera Lynn arrangements of “We’ll Meet Again” and “The White Cliffs of Dover”. All three went down really well. I also sang my South Pacific Medley and The Flower Duet from Lakme’ which is one of my favourite Arias. Both of these two I sang with backing track as the band needed a rest and it enabled me to show some Opera and my harmony work. I’m kind of keeping my fingers crossed that the band might like to play my South Pacific Medley in time if I can get the arrangement done. Ofcourse they may not want to work with me again we will just have to see what the future holds – here’s hoping!
I really enjoyed the bands renditions of Gabriel’s Oboe with soloist Emma Miller “Wherever You Are” and “Redemption” which is one of my favourites. Will Farmer was great as compere and Dad Simon is a fabulous Musical Director. A great evening all round I would say. As yet I don’t know how much money was raised but it seemed like a pritty good house so I shall keep you posted!
Today I was out singing “The Magic of the Musicals” and I included a few songs I’ve not sung in a long while “And This is My Beloved” from “Kismet” and another favourite of mine from “Kiss me Kate” “So in Love”. I don’t know about you but I think I would make a good Katharine particuly as she gets to sing that wonderful number “I Hate Men” – ha ha I think I could have fun with that!
Time for bed I think as I want an early night and there is much I want to do this weekend. Keep Watching Toodle Pip and Bye for Now!

Today has been one of those bitterly cold days where it doesn’t seem to matter just how many layers one puts on one’s still cold. Today I have been out and about keeping apointments with the Doctor and optician when really wishing I was wraped up warmly at home by the fire. Still these things have to be done and now I’m looking forward to singing with the South Beds Concert band on Wednesday. Rehursals went really well on Sunday as I sung through my “War Time Sing along Medley” with the band. I’m also performing two original Vera Lynn arrangements to “The White Cliffs of Dover” and “We’ll Meet Again” so they should go down well! I’ve also been asked to sing two numbers with backing tracks to give the band a rest so I’ve decided to do “The Flower Duet from Lakme'” and my “South Pacific Medley”. The band have chosen some great peices too and they will be playing that Redemption peice at the end which I just love!
I hope you can all make it along this Wednesday as the concert is part of the Oxjam Music festival taking place here in my home town of Leighton Buzzard. All the proceeds will be shared between Oxfam and the All Saints Preservation Trust so two great charities.
Thanks for following see you on the 13th and Toodle Pip for now!
