NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

On the Road Again and Off to Bournemouth!

It’s just a very quick post tonight before I hit the road tomorrow with Kim and we both make our way to Bournemouth for Saga holidays. Kim and I are back at The Queens Hotel for a 1940s week and I’m down to do two shows one ATS “We’ll Meet Again” tomorrow evening and a US “Stars and Stripes” show for Wednesday so busy busy!
Must dash as I need my beauty sleep. Thank you every-one for your birthday cards and e-mails. I had 52 waiting for me in my mail box when I got back from  holiday. I’m still working my way through them all so if I haven’t answered you yet I will catch up with you all when I get back.
Must dash and Toodle Pip!

Back from Beautiful Bath and Onward to Bournemouth!

Me at Royal Crescent

Hello everyone and what a great week it has been. I’m just back from having a wonderful holiday in Bath – Yes a holiday! It’s been so long since I’ve had a proper holiday that is to say time out where I haven’t had to do any paper work or sing that I had forgotten what the word meant. I have rather been making the most of it sight seeing although it did rather entail going from restaurant to tea room so I made sure I went out for a good run this morning!
It’s quite rare for me to have a run of dates where I don’t have any shows but as it was my birthday last week it was a treat to get away.

Me taking about Roman Make-up at the Baths!

There is so much to see in Bath and one of my first port of calls was the Pump Rooms and the Roman Baths. While I was there I met up with a lady dressed up in Roman costume who told me all about how the Roman women made and applied their make-up – long before the days of Boots and Superdrug! There’s quite a bit to it. It’s so easy these days to slap on a bit of eye shadow and lip stick, not then everything had to be ground up and applied!
Bath is quite the place for costume so I felt quite at home there. I’ve always loved Jane Austen and Regency fashion so two other places I just had to visit was the Jane Austen Centre and the Bath Costume Museum. I even managed to be photographed with a portrait of Mr Darcy who looked ever-so like Colin Firth but then he was the best Darcy ever swoon swoon! I sometimes think that maybe Jane Austen may be more of a female thing. After I had finished the tour and looking round the centre I popped into the shop only to over hear a chap as he came in through the door with his wife and daughter say “What are we doing here?” His face was a picture of confusion of how did I end up here and why am I here?

Regency Fashion!

Like I say sometimes men just don’t get it! I did laugh to myself!

Me with Mr Darcy at The Regency Tea Room

While I was on holiday I also made a point to have tea at the Pump Rooms and to have a swish in the Assembly Rooms when no-one was looking. I can be very naughty but then I love to dance and when I see a large empty floor I can’t resit a bit of a swish! I also visited Wells Cathedral and if you click through to my facebook pages you can see lots more of my photos so if you get the chance do take a look http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fiona-Harrison-A-Voice-in-a-Million/143965822288531
I’m back to work tomorrow with a “Magic of the Musicals” show booked for the Middlesex New Synagogue and then I’m off down to Bournemouth with my friend Kim as I play for Saga holidays. Kim is working with me as my sound engineer so I’m looking forward to working with Kim very much and having a good girly natter on the way.
Well I have lots of e-mails to catch up on so I shall call it a night blog wise. Thanks for following and do check out my photos. Toodle Pip and Bye for Now!

Off on my Holis as I Head for Bath!

For those of you who have been following my blog and facebook pages, you will know this year has been non-stop for me so I’m now looking forward to taking a break in the city of Bath. I can’t believe I have a full week to myself where I wont need to pick up a microphone and sing for others. I’ve really been looking forward to this holiday and Bath is somewhere I’ve always wanted to go to – so can’t wait!
Needless to say I don’t know what to take and what to wear as Bath is a very smart city so I’ve been told. I don’t want to let the side down so I may take my mink. Should I go for a brown mix and match wardrobe or a blue one? Either way Connie is filled up with Diesel and we are both ready to hit the road tomorrow morning as we head off to a city full of beautiful Georgian architecture which I’m so looking forward to seeing – brum brum!
Sundays photo shoot went well yesterday and I hope when I get back I will have some new photos to share with you all including my shots of Bath. I shall sign off now as I must finish my packing. Keep Watching and look out for my next blog when I get back.
Thanks for following. Toodle Pip and Bye for now!

On the Road Again and in Front of the Camera!

I confess I’m feeling very proud of myself after a very busy Saturday. I got a last minute booking through to do a 90th Birthday party in the village of Great Totham which if you know your geography isn’t far from Chelmsford in Essex. I had another job in the evening in Ealing so it was full systems go. Come Saturday morning I was a little worried I might have mis-calculated time but as it turned out everything went like clock work and I got to each job in plenty of time with no hitches – phew! The M25 is in a dreadful state at the mo so I planned my journeys very carefully and it really payed off . I think my Gardein Angel must have been watching over me making sure I didn’t make any mistakes as a wrong turn can sometimes cost you dear time wise!
My first show was a 1940s glamour one for a lovely gentleman who was enjoying his 90th Birthday. I only wish I could have stayed longer but I had to dash and make it to Ealing for the No One Club. I did a real mix bag of songs for Ealing from the 1940s to the 70s and finished off with Thank-you for the Music – You can’t really go wrong with Abba!
Today I have been doing a WW2 women’s uniform photo shoot as I felt some of my photos could do with a freshen up. Another one of my jobs will be to look at my WW2 page on my web-site and give it a bit of a re-vamp. I also need to add in my new GI Jive show which will take me up to 11 x 1940s costume shows available. Gosh do I really have that many – I surprise myself sometimes!
Of course it wont be long now before the new 1920s and 30s page goes up so do keep watching I’m really looking forward to seeing it!
Tomorrow I have a show and then I’m off on Tuesday to Bath for a holiday so can’t wait as I really need a break. I’ve been working very hard and it will be lovely to go somewhere and not have to sing for my supper!
Well I shall sign off now. Thank-you for following and Toodle Pip!
