NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

Just a Quick Blog!

Just getting ready for the weekend and another photo shoot planed at Sywell Aerodrome on Sunday so I’m really looking forward to working with Dave and Bee Jackson again. I shall also be doing a Studio shoot on Friday where I hope to be recording alot of my dresses from the 1920s and 30s. Slowly I’m trying to get my many costumes photographed but it’s hard tring to fit shoots in with such a busy work load. Still I’m getting there but as you can imagine these things take alot of organising!
Today I was singing songs from the Movies in my “Hooray for Hollywood” show and tomorrow I’m going back to the 1950s and 60s! Do Keep Watching and Bye for Now!

Going 1920s and 30s!

Just a quick blog to say I’ve been all 1920s and 30s today. Out of all the shows I do I have to say my “Putting on the Ritz” show is my favourite. I never tire of Cole Porter, Gershwin and Berlin and needless to say my audience thouraly enjoyed my show too – but then how can you not with two great deccades full of wonderful music!
However in my dash to get to the show I forgot to put on my beads and I do like to rattle them when I’m singing Baby Face and the like. I don’t think any one noticed apart from me and at least I didn’t forget anything eles. I have learn’t over time to dich the garters as they have a habbit of falling down when I’m tring to Charlston. As a costume artist I always try to get everything right but sometimes one has to compromise otherwise I could end up tripping over and breaking my neck which I nealy did at a ball not all that long ago!
Tomorrow it’s “Hooray for Hollywood” so another fab show full of great music so I’m looking forward to doing that one!
Toodle Pip and do Keep Watching!

Hooray for the WI and Shakespeare!

I’m just back from doing a 1950s Jubilee show in Datchet for the Monday Club and guess who was doing the refreshments – Datchet WI. Wonderful! I love the WI in fact that’s how I started out as a professional entertainer entertaining the WI not as a singer but doing stand-up in the Joyce Grenfell vein so I owe a lot to the WI. A big thank-you for the fantastic cake and Trifle that was just what I needed after all that singing!
I really enjoyed todays show as I was able to include all my favourtes and I even sang some Opera today which went down really well. Ofcourse my favourite song is “So in Love” from Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate. Between you and me I think I would make a good Kathrine (I’m kind of in the mood at the mo to sing “I hate Men”) but when it comes to Shakespeare’s characters I think I’m most like a Beatrice from Much ado About Nothing. I would so love to have the chance to play her again but sadly I never get that opertunity as I’m always working singing for a living so to do a play is quite impossible. Mind you that doesn’t stop me from quoting from the play or at least re-wording it slightly in my everyday life only it seems to go over the heads of every-one- particuly men! Is it me or are Men stupid? Yorn Yorn!
Speaking of which I think it’s time for bed and I will re-read my play and the wonderful langue which is Shakespeare in particular the Beatrice and Benedick scenes!
Toodle Pip and Up the Wooden Hill to Bedfordshire I go! ;->

Thank-you for the Photos and Catch Up

To-day has been one of thoughs days where I have been catching up with things and trying to get all my paper work straight. I was flicking through my facebook pages earler and a big thank-you to every-one who has posted up photos from my shows in France and of the Kent and East Sussex railway weekend on my personal page. It’s always great to see your photos as these are memories I so want to hold onto. As a performer once the show has played it’s gone but photos and film footage live on for-ever so thank-you to Jan Wester, Cindy Chalmeton and Tony Brown for posting!
Yesterday I was performing at College House in Brackley with my 1940s glamour “Don’t Sit Under the Appletree” show so thank-you Lady She for the engagement and for recomending me – it was lovely to meet you all and to be invited. Like the song says I truly hope “We’ll Meet Again”, and soon and I’m looking forward to seeing your photos of us all together!
Tomorrow I’m off to Datchet to do a 1950s show, then a Putting on the Ritz one 20s and 30s on Tuesday, a Hooray for Hollywood on Wednesday and a 1950s and 60s one on Thursday so a busy week planed!
As many of you know I’m slowly trying to get my costumes photographed and recorded so I have another photo shoot planned for this weekend which will take me to Sywell Aerodrome. I shall be working with photographers Dave and Bee Jackson again so I’m looking forward to working with them very much as they produced some wonderful shots last time when I did the Edwardian/1920s shoot.
Thats about all my news for now. Thanks for popping in and do Keep Watching! Bye for now and
Toodle Pip!
