NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

Back from the Isle of Wight!

Hello one and all I’m just back from performing at a Victorian Weekend on the Isle of Wight and what a great weekend it’s been too! It’s was my 4th year performing at Havenstreet station and it’s been wonderful to see this event grow from very small beginings to the event it is now. The first year we did it we had very few people but now it’s become a very popular event with many more people through the gate every time. I really enjoy doing the Victorian as it makes a change from the 40s and I can include Opera. It’s so easy for me as Opera and Operetta are the styles of music I was trained to do in the first place. My voice just clicks into gear and off I go – I love it!
I was booked to do 3 shows daily and ofcourse I didn’t forget to do my Pearly Queen show. I always like to finish off with Britsh themes and we got all the Re-anacters up on stage for the grand finale. You can’t beat a good flag wave!
On the Saturday night Stefen my sound engineer and I joined all the re-anacters for a ploughmans dinner and a night of  party games. I had no idear I was so competative I think I must have volinteared to do everything from musical chairs, to beat the gong and to build a life size jack-in-a-box out of bambo and wall paper. I was really looking forward to doing the archery only I broke the bow. I have been working out quite a bit of late Oups! Sorry!
This was Stefen’s first re-anactment event and he really did me proud so thank-you ever-so for stepping in Stefen at such short notice you were great! This event has become like one big family and it was wonderful to catch up with Anne and Rod Hughes we really enjoyed our tea and cake very much so thank-you! Here’s to next year Keep Watching Toodle Pip!

Off to the Isle of Wight!

We’ll I’m all packed and ready to head off to the Isle of Wight for a Victorian Weekend at the steam railway. Sadly the engineer I had booked wasn’t able to do the job after all but I’ve been lucky enough to get Stefan for this weekend instead so I’m really looking forward to working with him again as he did a fantastic job for me last week!
It’s been a busy couple of days – I was in the recording studio yesterday putting a couple of songs into production and I’m also having my Christmas sing-along medley re-done in time for Christmas. It’s hard to be thinking about Christmas in August but really it is only just around the corner if you don’t forward plan and I’m really non-stop. I’ve already sold 33 dates for Christmas this year and bookings are still comming in with many people booking me for December 2013 so they get the dates they want next year. Gosh where does the time go!
Tonight I had a two hour dress fitting with Judi my dress maker as I have another photo shoot planed for the 17th. I’m keen to get all my photos done this year as I’m having alot of up dates done to my web-site. Speaking of which I’ve just seen the pre view to my 1940s page and I’m really pleased with it. Do keep watching as my web-designer will be putting it up in the next day or two so you will probably see it beforeI do so do keep watching!
The next page to go up will be my Music Hall page which I’m really looking forward to seeing when done.
Must dash now as I still have a few bits and peices to finish off before bed.
Thanks for dropping in and Toodle Pip!

Hooray for Hollywood!

Today I was performing my “Hooray for Hollywood” show in Wendover which was great fun. I always enjoy doing that show as it seems to enclude all my favourte songs. “An Affair to Remember” went down really well along with my “Throughly Modern Millie” and I finnished off with Jimmy Cagney’s “I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy” – super!
Tomorrow I’m in the recording studio putting a few songs into production. In particular Burlington Burtie from Bow which will be a very important addition to my Music Hall show. The new Music Hall page will be going up on my web-site in the next few weeks and I will let you know when it’s done so do keep watching. In the mean time I have quite a bit of paper work to get on with tonight and do check my face book pages. New photos have been added to my banners Evette the Spivette for my personal and me in my 1940s play suite for my Voice in a Million Fan Page. Thanks for dropping in and Bye for Now! ;->

One of those Days!

Do you know there are times when I could really let rip and say naughty words but I wont – and today started off so well too!
There I was working out in the gym this morning getting ready to start on paper work this afternoon only to find when I got back problems with our motor insurance. It’s a nightmere being a Diabetic and a Singer insurers wont insure you to drive a van if it’s not yours nor will they insure another driver to drive the van if the use is different from the main insurers ocupation. This has put me in a real fix as I can’t get my full sound system in the back of my car and there are the odd occations when I need to take a van for the 6 speakers so I don’t know what to do. It’s no wonder people don’t bother with insurance and if Equity’s First Act Insurance can’t help me there’s no where eles to turn!
It’s lucky I only need my little rig this weekend for the Isle of Wight but I could do with the van for Wales at the end of August so I’m really worried. I guess what I need is a bigger car!
I remember when I was first diagnosed with Diabeties my Doctor said if you keep a good balance it shouldn’t stop you from doing anything and I always have. But there are times like this when it really is a problem made worse by being a singer!
I could just screem as I can’t see a way around the problem!
