NEWS PAGE & BLOG

Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become a regular visitor to my site.

Onward and Upwards!

We’ll I’m just back from the Chap Ball and what a smart event it was too. It was lovely to see all the ladies and gentleman beautifuly dressed and to see the new trends comming through on the Vintage fashion scene. The 1940s is most cirtainly falling from favour with a strong push towards Victorian and Steam Punk. Musicaly things are going back to the 1920s and there were no shortage of  20s and 30s evening dresses on display. I also saw quite a few ladies in strapless 1950s cocktail dresses which is always a good look I think. Some of the outfits which stood out for me and cut the dash was Laura the lady dressed in her Edwardian Hasars costume, Pandora who wore an origainal black beaded 1920s dress and made a lovely head dress to go with it, and two ladies who sady I didn’t catch the names of but one had a full lengh original 1950s strapless evening dress and  brocade evening coat which see wore with a ruby and diamond necklace and earings set. The other lady wore a Victorian Red Bussel dress and when I asked her waist size she said 20 inc Wow! So a very smart event! I made friends with 2 ladies who are purveyors of fine shoes and handbags and their company is called Miss L Fire so if you like vintage style shoes do take a look – here is their web-site www.misslfire.com and belive me they have some wonderful styles!
The entertainment was very creative with a great high wire act and I loved the band whos name I can’t remember now but they were so wacky and the music was 1st World War 1920s fabulous! All in all it was a great night and I met up with so many lovely people and my partner James, who is the perfect gentleman! Thank-you for being my partner James it was lovely to be with you!
Monday tomorrow and back to work with a straight through run of Christmas shows which will take me up to the 31st – so non stop! Tonight I will be meeting up with the South Beds Concert Band as they would like me to sing for them for a show next March so I need to sort out some of my Band Parts. I’m looking forward to meeting them all as they are about 30 strong and I quite fancy doing some Rodgers and Hammerstein. They have a good French horn section and that sort of music would work well with the line up I think, but we will just have to see!
I also have quite a few up dates to make to my fashion page and I’ve been sorting photos and working through designs. I hope you like the new photos added to this my blog page. Well I think that’s everytthing for now thanks for following and Toodle Pip!

A Busy Few Days!

I’m going to have to start by saying I’m somewhat in morning. As many of you know I’ve been very busy the last few days with radio interviews and yesterday I was singing at Didcot’s Vintage Christmas fair only to find my favourite and most comfortable pair of 1940s shoes had snaped on one of the lace holes! Shock horror! It’s one of those things you just can’t repair and looking at the picure you can see why I’m so sorry to see these shoes go. When it comes to finding a replacement navy pair I shall have to make do with Clarks as I remember seeing something which might work  – but I’m really up set as I loved these shoes so much and when there gone there gone!
A big thank-you to Harry and Edna for inviting me onto their radio program on Wednesday. They very kindly sent me an MP3 link. Which at the time I couldn’t get to work but all you clver people out there probably can so here goes and fingers crossed let me know how you get on!
http://www7.zippyshare.com/v/75970885/file.html
You can hear me singing Mr Sandman (Yes it is me doing all 3 parts), J’ Attendrai (The French one) The White Cliffs of Dover (Jive Version) and the ever so slightly naughty one Let’s Do it Lets Fall in Love. Enjoy!
I should also like to thank Gill and Jeanette for inviting me to sing at Didcot’s Vintage Christmas fair yesterday and also to my friend Richard for helping me. Just as I thought it did turn into a bit of a chilly one and just incase you were wondering I did go with the mink in the end! Well if you can’t wear a 1940/50s mink for an outdoor Vintage Christmas Show when can you! I have to say I felt very glamorous and that coat does have a wonderful swing to it. Very Evita!
They had some wonderful atractions at the fair from living staues to stilt walking angles but my favourite were the grannies on the motorised shopping trollies Richard and I both thought they were fantastic! Thank-you to Dan from Origin Technical who did my sound. It’s not easy in the cold when your fingers start to freeze so well done! Quite how the Glam Rock band managed I’ll never know. I wore a 1950s suit with extra lycra and silk under garments for warmth with a fur coat and I was fine. But the lady in the Lycra flaired catsuit should have got a medal. Quite how she was able to sing and not let her teeth chatter is anyones guess! Wow well done you!
This Saturday I’m heading off to the Chaps Ball so I’m looking forward to that very much as I have lots of friends I wish to catch up with!
We’ll that’s about it from me for tonight thanks for following and I start my “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” shows on Monday so straight through to the 31st.

In the mean time you can see me this Thursday performing in Didcot for the Vintage Christmas Street Fair and I shall be on stage at 5.10pm – 5.50pm and 7.45pm -8.25pm. I know from doing these sorts of event before it’s going to be a bit of a cold one so I must wrap up warm! Maybe it’s time to bring out the Mink!
I’ve put together a great program of songs from the 1930s 40s 50s and 60s and I plan to finish with Nessun Dorma and White Christmas so something for everyone I hope!
This Saturday will be a real treat as I will be attending the Chaps Ball in Bloomsbury with my friend James. So a chance to let ones hair down and have a real dance! I’ve even designed a new dress for the occation! It will be a chance to meet up with so many wonderful people and I belive there may well be quite a gang of us.

Playing Catch Up!

I’ve been at my computer since 1pm today trying to tie up all those loose ends before Christmas but with – out much luck. I had a lot of calls to make but it’s been one of those days where I haven’t been able to speak to the right people concerned. So a bit frustrating one way and another but at least I was able to do a few contracts!
This Wednesday I shall be going out on “Harry and Edna on the Wireless” so I hope to get the program recorded so you can all hear me. But I will post a link so do check out their site.
Speaking of which Alice Roberton has posted a rather nice artical she wrote for Homes and Antiques on the Christmas Boutique at Woburn Abbey I sung at a week or so ago. Do check out the link some great pictures!
In the mean time don’t forget you can catch me this Thursday in Didcot singing at the Vintage Christmas Street Fair. I will be on stage at 5pm – 5.50pm and then 7.45pm – 8.25pm so I hope you can make it along! I think I’ve also got to judge a fancy dress compitition in there too with the mayor so lots to do!
Sorry I haven’t posted many photos on face book of late but to be honest I have been very busy but don’t worry give me a day or two to catch up and all will be back to normal. Thanks for following and Toodle Pip for Now!www.harryandedna.co.uk
