Off on the Road Again!
It’s been a productive week where I’ve been able to tie off a lot of loose ends while still performing every day. I’ve had a couple of breakthroughs on a few of my songs this week which have taken me a little longer than normal to learn. It can go like that with song learning sometimes where you get a mental block with a phrase and then as if my magic all the hard work and persistence pays off and everything falls into place.
I’ve been busy learning “Gangsters Paradise” and who would have thought some-one like me (Mary

Poppins personified) would be singing gangster rap! I’ve been enjoying the rhythm of it and even now I still don’t know what all the words mean including “Trippin’ Banger” but I don’t think any one else does either!
I want to give my act a face lift and I’m working towards making a new show-reel this coming January. I’m heading up to Manchester to film it and I’ve given myself plenty of time to prepare as there were a couple of dresses I wanted to have made in time for the shot. I’ve been

experimenting with different songs and I’ve just sent in my order for a new cocktail dress which is going to take 12 weeks to make. I’m seeing my dress maker Judi on Wednesday and she is making a couple of items for me too including a new evening gown which needs to look very Judy Garland and early 60s in design.
This week I’ve had a run of shows featuring songs from the 1950s, 60s and 70s and I’ve been feeding in a couple of my new Post Modern numbers including “I Will Survive” and

“Wuthering Heights” which both have their origins deeply rooted in the 1970s. I open with my Halloween show”Fly me to the Moon” on the 23rd October and “Wuthering Heights” is one of my new 2023 additions along with “Fever”.
With the changing seasons come changing shows and I’m really looking forward to Halloween. Then it’s straight into Guy Fawkes, Remembrance and on into Christmas. At the start of the year I was able to pick up a wonderful selection of new Christmas songs from Richard which I now need

to learn. Richards musical arrangements are second to none and I can’t wait to perform them. This time of year is always extremely busy and I’m keeping my fingers crossed Richard will be able to get my Mary Poppins medley done in time for Christmas. I’ve 86 shows to perform from now until the end of the year so I don’t get a lot of spare time and plenty of project to complete.
On Monday I’m working on a new Bletchley Park flicker book video with Peter so I hope it won’t be too long before I have a new video to share with

you all. For the sound track we are using one of my favourite Harry James numbers “I’ve heard that Song Before”. I love singing this song and once again I’m using one of Richards beautiful arrangements.
Although I’ve been out performing every day I haven’t taken any photos this week so I will leave you with a few of my favourites from Bletchley Park which will be making up my new flicker book show-reel.
