Hello one and all and welcome to my news page. Here you can see me as my two alter egos the ever efficient secretary
Prudie Jones, Evette the Spivette and plain old little me as you catch up with all that is current in my world. Regrettably
unlike Prudie my spelling is quite frightful at the best of times due to my dyslexia so I shall apologise now for anything
which might be shamefully mis-spelt. In the mean time I hope you find this page fun, entertaining and informative and become
a regular visitor to my site.
It’s still only the 11th December and I’ve already done 16 shows and still trucking along! Busy day tomorrow with two Christmas shows to do and one 1950s and 60s Rock and Roll one booked in for the evening so I don’t want to be up too late tonight blogging. I have notice that when I come to sing the Christmas Carol sections in my shows audiences are galloping away with Good King Wenceslas – so I’ve taken to conducting! I’ve had all sorts happen! Buffets being served and fire alarms going off in a Silent Night not to mention one gentleman telling me today how much he enjoyed my show despite being stone deaf. Apparently he enjoyed looking at my legs! Mmmm not sure what to make of that one – I think he was paying me a compliment! While I’m driving along and dashing from show to show I like to research and listen to music I might think of doing. I’m looking at expanding my 1960s repertoire and today it was the turn of Neil Sedaka. The CD did make me chuckle – how music production has changed form the 50s and 60s. What struck me was how crudely mixed it was with certain instruments being far too promment – and as for that “Oh Carol” song I couldn’t stop laughing particularly when we came to the naff spoken word bit in the middle. I guess it was a different time but how anyone would be able to keep a straight face is beond me! However saying that I did like “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen”, “Calendar Girl”, “Breaking up is Hard to Do” and “Little Devil” which wouldn’t seem out of place in my Halloween show. But I think we will give “I Go Ape” a wide berth and the less said about Sedaka’s verson of “Bess You is My Woman Now” the better! Gershwin will be turning in his grave – I didn’t know weather to laugh or cry! Bedtime now so I must say Goodnight. More news to follow soon so thanks for following and Toodle Pip
