Driving Down to Winchester!
I have to confess there has been something of a change of plan this weekend. I was all set to step out on stage this Friday with my friend Lynda Styan and perform a WW1 Music Hall only to find our booking at Hayling Island Royal British Legion was cancelled on Wednesday at very short notice. Fortunately both Lynda and I are members of Equity and in a case such as this the client is obliged to pay in full. Although it’s not the money so much as the enjoyment of doing the job. Both Lynda and I had been looking forward to working with each other again and we had a fantastic show planed for the evening which was to commemorate The Battle of the Somme. Sometimes these things happen in show business so hopefully we will get the chance to play the show on a different date at another time. I shall keep you posted!
In the meantime it’s left me with a free weekend which is very unusual as I’m always working. So I’ve decided to head down to the south coast as originally planned this Friday, meet up with Paul and then we will be going into Winchester to do a bit of Christmas Shopping at the German market. I’d also like to visit the D-Day museum in Portsmouth. It’s one of those places I’ve always wanted to visit but never quite got there to. So perhaps this weekend will give me the opportunity.
Don’t forget you can catch me on the 25th November performing songs from the 1940s at The Tree Tops Cafe, Rushmere Country Park, Leighton Buzzard LU7 0EB. Tickets are £20 and include a Fish and Chip Supper. Telephone Hayleigh Smith on 01525 234260 for tickets and all the profits go to the Greensands Trust.
That’s all my news for now Keep Watching and Toodle Pip!
