It’s war time London and debutante Evette has to turn Spiv in order to save the family pile by selling all sorts of – “Well less said about that the better!” to make ends meet. Just like the Wicked Lady before her our heroine finds herself strangely attracted to this shady under world of black market nylons and knicker elastic and dare one say it that little naughty something for the weekend sir! “Oh - that’s chocolate just in case you were wondering!”

But unlike others in this “Spivvy” profession Evette does what she does not for herself but for England! Her aim is to re-build her Bedfordshire ancestral home - a rambling red brick Elizabethan mansion and open it to the public after the war. Will Evette succeed in her quest to re-build that little piece of England? Only time will tell!

Talented entertainer and singing sensation Fiona Harrison has invented a new character to add to her many popular wartime shows. Performed as a 45 minute compliment to one of her three shows daily options or as a 60 minute evening cabaret, Fiona will fascinate you as “Evette the Spivette”.

Classy and sensual Fiona will take you on a musical journey of witty and swing tunes of the 1930s and 40s from Noel Coward's "The Stately Homes of England" to "Anything Goes" and "The Lady is a Tramp" whilst wearing pin stripe and moving like no other. Fiona will draw you into this wonderful ripping yarn world of Evette which will both amuse and delight you!

This show is both inventive and exciting with a totally fresh approach. Designed with the Chaps, Vintage Burlesque and 1940s market in mind Evette will charm and entertain you like no other!

Who is Evette?
Lady Evette Ursula Russell

Evette Ursula Penn-Hughes born 1910

Educated at Roedean and excelled in elocution, music and sports. A member of the school orchestra mastering the piano and French horn – during her time there Evette took up fencing, became head girl and lacrosse team captain.

Came out in 1928 and enjoyed her first London season as a debutante.

Described in Tatler as “an accomplished horse woman, cracking shot and superb fencer”. Went on to win silver at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics for the individual foil event and also represented her country in the lacrosse demonstration team. Married Lord Ernest Bertram Russell in 1934 and became Lady Evette Ursula Russell.

Widowed in 1938 after her husband’s tragic motor racing accident in his Bentley Blower at Brooklands.
Inherited the family seat - Leightonbey Hall, along with a series of bad debts due to Lord Russell’s extravagant racing life style.

Now committed to re-building the family home Evette leads a deliciously devilish double life. Lady by Day - Spivette by night!

In 1937 she single handedly apprehended two villains who broke into the Great Hall. Lady Russell has since helped in their rehabilitation and both are now enjoying successful careers as castrati singers.

Despite having to make the best of it Evette regally rides out with the hounds, and keeps up the family tradition of hosting the annual hunt ball. Part of Leightonbey Hall is currently being used as a hospital for the RAF and Evette regularly organises and performs in concerts for the patients. When at home her other war work involves wrapping and distributing food parcels for the Red Cross.
